Anime Arizona Spring Prop & Costume Weapon Policy

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all attendees, Anime Arizona Spring has established the following guidelines for props and costume weapons:

  • Absolutely no real weapons of any kind are allowed on convention grounds. This includes:

  • Real firearms (loaded or unloaded)

  • Real knives, swords, or blades (metal or sharpened)

  • Functional bows, crossbows, or any projectile weapons

  • Explosives, fireworks, or incendiary devices

✅ Allowed Props & Cosplay Weapons (With Restrictions)

Props must be clearly fake, non-functional, and safe for a crowded environment. The following are generally permitted:

  • Foam, cardboard, or lightweight plastic swords, staffs, and wands

  • Prop guns with no moving parts and clearly marked orange tips

  • Shields, armor, or costume accessories made of safe materials

  • Non-functional bows with no string tension and no arrows

Props NOT Allowed

  • Metal props or anything with sharp edges or points

  • Functional slingshots, nunchaku, or similar martial arts weapons

  • Heavy or bulky props that can injure others in crowded areas

  • Any prop that shoots projectiles of any kind

Prop & On-Site Checks

  • All prop weapons must be inspected and tagged at the Prop Check Station upon entry.

  • Staff may ask you to return unsafe items to your vehicle or hotel room if they do not meet guidelines.

  • Failure to comply with prop policies may result in removal from the convention.

Use Common Sense

If you’re unsure whether your prop is allowed, ask before you bring it. When in doubt, safety comes first — we want everyone to have fun without risk.
